Happy Friendship Day!

I don't believe in fairytales, but I believe in You & Me! "
Naah! It's not a love story; it's bout a 'pure love story' - Friendship story

According to an Irish proverb -  A good friend is like a four-leaf clover; hard to find and lucky to have. Absolutely , everyone would agree with me!

They say,
You're not best friends if you didn't hate each other when you first met.

That's how our story started!

Disclaimer : All the characters and events depicted in this story are entirely fictitious. Any similarity to actual events or persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

"Best App project" was an annual fiesta in our college.  She was smart, intelligent girl always exceeding in her academics. When it comes to her friends, she was a gem - the best friend anyone wished for. And how can I forget about her love - Coding, she was an obvious contestant for this popular event.
Well, about me - I was an average , aah! okay, above average & hard-working ; had a few friends as it takes time to break the ice.  I decided to take part in this event but I didn't have a partner nor the idea. One our common friend told me that she was looking for a partner in this project but warned me.

Wait! What! A warning!!!
My previous participation in events and winning a few had made her think that I am competing with her. COMPETITION!!! Hell! There is no competition between us.  I wanted to talk to her and sort things out but she ignored me like always. Wait! She ignored me previously and I didn't even know about this.

Sounds too filmy, well! Let's continue.

I asked our common friend about talking about it with her and clear things out on my behalf. What I hear next!

** Slap **  A mere mention of my name. This was pretty serious.

I chose to ignore and move on. Planned to withdraw my name from this event since I didn't have a "Project Idea" nor a partner and obvious choice of a partner for her would be our common friend and obviously not me!

Days passed by, we were busy with our normal routines separately.

One day, our common friend and I were going out for a lunch, when she asked me for help. I offered to help her as much as possible. She was talking about their project and something they were stuck on. We discussed about the problem and its possible solution. We were going back to our college I warned her about disclosing who helped them with their problem. She thanked me for reminding and we burst out laughing remembering "The mighty slap" episode.

They submitted their project. Unfortunately, they could not win but were highly appreciated for their idea. I went and congratulated them for their effort. To my surprise, she responded with a 'Thank you'.

It was that day and today she is my bridesmaid walking besides me in the altar. Telling me that she knew about my significant help in her college project and now she really appreciates it. Wait! She didn't tell me about this in all those years of our friendship and I used to think that it was volte-face about me.

What happened in between is a pure love story - FRIENDSHIP.

You took my hand and showed me the way,
when I was blinded by unfortunate fate.
You took my hand and prayed with me,
while my troubles quickly faded away.
You took my hand and dried my tears,
when I cried over it all.
You took my hand and helped me understand,
when I questioned our almighty one.
You took my hand and made me promise,
I’d never walk alone again.
You took my hand and mended my friendship,
when I was too stubborn to say anything.
You took my hand and made me laugh,
when we remembered our funny mistakes.
You took my hand and made me see,
that God has a special plan for me.
Now take my hand and never let go,
because our friendship means more than you’ll ever know!!

Once in a while right in the middle of ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale.
It does exist!

Cheers!
Suvina ;)

P.S : This is not my story as I don't believe in "BEST FRIEND" kind of a concept!

That's me!

Life 'Cycle' !

Girl : Papa, may I ask you for something?
Father : Yes, Darling, go on!
Girl : I need your time.
Father (shocked but spoke in a sweet tone) : You have all my time, darling.

Father was confused with daughter's serious & deep thought. Each and every day since her birth, the time he spent with his daughter flashed before his eyes. Thinking ... if he has done something wrong and has not given the time and attention his daughter needed.

Father (Contd. speaking) :  ... You don't have to ask for my time. My time is completely yours. Tell me what are we going to do?

Girl (overjoyed) : Yay! You are the best Papa in the world.

Father smiled profusely seeing his daughter jumping with happiness. What! He thought if just assuring my daughter gives her so much happiness, I am sure giving her my time would make her the happiest kid around!

Girl (contd. speaking) : Papa, when I go to the park in the evening, all my friends are riding bicycles. They ride so fast that I am unable to catch them. I know Papa, this is because I don't know how to ride a bike and my bicycle has supporters installed which stops me from riding smoothly. Will you help me quickly learn how to ride bicycle fast?

Father thought for a while before answering the question.

Father : First of all, my child, you should learn how to ride safe and not fast.  I will help you learn how to ride a bicycle but in our own sweet time so that you enjoy while learning.

He thought that he never cared about how would her daughter learn to cycle. It dawned on him that getting her a bicycle with training wheels wasn't of much help it was only protecting her. Oh wait, how will she learn to ride bicycles if those supporters are there for her always. He understood that if she wouldn't have asked for it, he wouldn't have realized it.

Girl (all excited) : Awesome. Let's get started! Woohoo ...

Father : Darling, let's see if we have everything before we get started with the riding part.

Girl ( a little curious) :  ... and what's that Papa?

Father : We don't want to injure ourselves, do we?

Girl : No way, Papa!

Father : So, let's see if we have the bicycle protective gear with us i.e. Helmet , knee pad and glove set. And above all, the will to learn and to not give up.

Girl : Yes, I have everything. As you taught earlier, safety comes above everything. What are we waiting for, let's go Papa.

Father : Wear your safety gear. Here's to happy learning & riding!

In the meantime, Father removes the installed training wheels. This time, he will be her training wheels. The daughter stood there witnessing the rebirth of a man as an affectionate & understanding father. However to her discomfiture, she saw that father had taken the wheels off.

Upon reaching the park,

Father : Get on your bike.

Stunned after listening to what her father said. 'Get on your bike' without training wheels.

Girl : But! Papa ... You have removed the training wheels. How will I even get on the bike!

Father : Listen to me carefully.

and he continues to teach her little girl about riding a bicycle, about the balance & the fall.
She fell and got back, that's what continued till she smoothly sailed ....

At night, she went back to bed and penned this down -

I don't know how to ride a bicycle

So you grabbed the bike and showed me how

But I didn't quite understand how you did it

So you let me ride it while holding the bike

I pedaled slowly at first, then gradually faster

Until the breeze hit my face and I smiled

At last, I thought, I learned how to ride it

Then I looked behind and saw the view

You're not holding it anymore, you're faraway from me

I'm far from you, and you waved goodbye

So, I turned towards north and pedaled some more

At last, I thought, I learned how to ride the bicycle.

I didn't know how to ride a bicycle

But you taught me how, so I turned towards north, and pedaled some more.

Good Night!

'Loyalty' before Royalty

Loyalty! One simple word; Do we have a single definition for it; I guess not!

For someone loyalty is honesty , faithfulness to commitments and obligations; for me loyalty is no matter you are right or wrong but i will tell you when you are wrong and help you get it right.

For those who see world in black & white; loyalty isn’t GREY! Oh lets say today I am loyal to you but tomorrow I don’t find a point being loyal to you; what do you think am I actually loyal or am I just making of fool of you and self. Or is it supporting the right - what’s right is right no matter what my loyalty says! Let's play it safe and say - Its just a game of perception.

How do I tell someone that I am loyal!

Bang on! Show them your loyalty by actions and not words.

“Words help you express your feelings but feelings can only be felt by actions.” - Unknown
